Seluruh planet serta bulan, bintang matahari dan galaksi berputar pada arah tawaf. malah pusingan sekecil kecil atom juga berputar mengikut arah tawaf, putting beliung, pusaran air dan seluruh putaran semulajadi alam.

Malah junjungan kita Nabi saw juga mengacau minuman baginda secara tawaf dan menggalakkan segala sesuatu yang baik dimulakan dari arah kanan ke kiri.

In ancient stadia the races went anticlockwise, as the first races were for chariots. I read that the right hand, which usually keeps the sword, had to be on the outside for ease of movement (similar to spiral stairs in castles). This is supposedly why races are still run anti-clockwise. I have also heard it suggested that those with dominant right legs run more efficiently on anti-clockwise curves, as the power is used on the outside of the bend. Perhaps you are left-footed? The 'plughole theory' is a myth. People who say they have tested it have not done enough control samples - things like the shape of the sink and the movement of water due to taps are much more likely to affect the direction than the Earth spinning. And there is no such thing as 'clockwise' in three dimensional space - we are just accustomed (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) to looking at the Earth and the Solar System a certain way up - it all depends on where the observer is...​
